The screenings will be held on Wednesday June 7, 2017 at Glover School, 9 Maple Street. The purpose of the screening is to review a child's development, and to assist in the identification of those children who should be referred for an evaluation to determine eligibility for special education services. Additionally, children who will be 4 years of age prior to August 31, 2017, not identified as a student in need of special education services, will be eligible for tuition based lottery openings in the Integrated Preschool program. If spaces are still available, children who will be 3.6 years of age prior to August 31, 2017 will be eligible for the 3.6 year old lottery. All students must participate in the screening process to be considered for placement.. To schedule an appointment please call (781) 639-3190 ext. 1002 on or before May 31, 2017. Screenings are held by appointment only.

In addition to the Kindergarten Orientation Night, Registration and Screening, it is the responsibility of the Marblehead Public Schools to identify any child who is a resident of Marblehead who may have a disability, regardless of the severity of the disability. It is also the responsibility of Marblehead Public Schools to evaluate those students to determine if they are eligible for special education or related services under IDEA (Individuals with Disabilities Education Act) or 603 CMR 28 (Massachusetts Special Education Regulations).

The Marblehead school district is committed to identifying children before their third birthday in order to provide early intervention services for three and four year-olds. If you have questions or concerns regarding your child’s development and would like to have him/her screened, please call Susan Gibbons at 781-639-3190 x 1002 to set up an appointment.

If you suspect that your child, at any age, may need an evaluation to determine eligibility for special education services, you may request an evaluation, at no cost, at your child’s school. Please contact the Chairperson at your child’s school for information about referring your child for an evaluation. Contact information for each school is listed below:
